House in Moledo, by Eduardo Souto Moura, 1991-1998 - in Moledo do Minho, Caminha, Portugal

The house was built on land that was formerly farmland, with a good view over the Atlantic Ocean in a small town in northern Portugal.

The recovery of the house is a topic investigated by Souto de Moura for many years.

By observing the evolution of his research seems obvious that constantly come to a kind of pattern based on a floor of a rectangular shape with two or three sides and a blind forehead, usually formed by a wall of stained glass whose elements are aligned with the facade main house. The space distribution and service areas occupy the interior generated.

This typology is derived from the idea of a release with a series of enclosed spaces that generate functionally hierarchical.

(sorry for the pictures. I couldn’t find better ones)

House Bom Jesus, by Eduardo Souto Moura, 1989-94- in Braga, Portugal.

The house in the town of Bom Jesus expresses the architect’s exploration of the relation between modernism and landscape. The building’s pure, concrete exterior surfaces are eloquently embellished with a subtle horizontal and vertical pattern resulting from the banding of the concrete surfaces.

Serpentine Gallery, by Alvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura, 2005 - in London, UK

In designing the Pavilion, Siza sought to ‘guarantee that the new building - while presenting a totally different architecture - established a “dialogue” with the Neo-classical house’.

The result was a structure that mirrored the domestic scale of the Serpentine and articulated the landscape between the two buildings. The Pavilion was based on a simple rectangular grid, which was distorted to create a dynamic curvaceous form. It comprised interlocking timber beams, a material that accentuated the relationship between the Pavilion and surrounding Park.
